This policy explains how ZhiYin uses cookies and similar browser storage (such as localStorage) when you use our website. We keep the list below honest and specific — it names every cookie our code actually sets, rather than a generic template. Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser; localStorage is a related mechanism for saving small amounts of data on your device.
Every entry below corresponds to storage our own code writes. We do not run third-party advertising networks, and we do not load any analytics until you opt in. If a cookie is not on this list, we do not set it.
Required for the site to work — signing in, keeping you logged in, and protecting requests against forgery. These cannot be switched off, and no consent is required for them.
Remember choices you make, such as your language and light or dark theme, and record your cookie consent so we don't ask again on every visit.
Help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Analytics are loaded only after you explicitly opt in, and never before.
Our consent banner includes a marketing toggle so the control is ready if that ever changes, but ZhiYin currently sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Turning it on or off has no effect today.
We take a consent-first approach: no analytics tool is initialized and no analytics request leaves your browser until you have explicitly opted in. Which tool we use depends on where the site is served.
Outside mainland China we use PostHog for product analytics. It is initialized only after you accept analytics in the cookie banner; if you decline, PostHog is never loaded and captures nothing.
On the mainland China deployment we use Baidu Tongji (百度统计) instead, and PostHog is never contacted. A blocking privacy notice appears on your first visit, and the analytics script loads only after you consent there.
Besides cookies, we use your browser's localStorage for a few small preferences — your theme choice and your recorded cookie consent. This data stays on your device, is not transmitted to our servers as a cookie header, and is cleared when you clear your browser's site data.
You can change your analytics and preference choices at any time by clearing this site's stored data, which removes the cookie_consent record; the consent banner then reappears on your next visit so you can choose afresh. Strictly necessary cookies remain, as the site cannot function without them.
Every major browser lets you view, block, or delete cookies and site data from its privacy or settings menu. You can block all cookies, but note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you from signing in and using your account.
Declining analytics has no effect on your ability to browse jobs, apply, or manage your account — those rely only on strictly necessary and preference storage. You simply will not be counted in our usage analytics.
Under China's Personal Information Protection Law, non-essential technologies such as analytics require your separate, informed consent, which must be freely given and as easy to withdraw as to grant. Our first-visit privacy notice and the controls above are how we meet that standard. For the full picture of what we collect, see our Personal Information Collection List.
For visitors in the EU and UK, we rely on your consent as the lawful basis for non-essential cookies, and on our legitimate interest in a secure, functioning service for strictly necessary ones. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time using the methods above.
